Learn how-to tie a Bi Directional Bowline!
Переглядів 2 тис.21 годину тому
If you're a fan of base anchors, you might be interested in the Bi-Directional Bowline! When it comes to climbing slick trees or popping out of multiple redirects, normal bowlines have the potential to loosen and/or slide up the spar; hence, the "Flop" factor. When tied correctly, the Bi-Directional Bowline keeps the base nice and tight! Products seen: Petzl Strato - www.bartlettman.com/product...

    Instead of wrapping it around the unicender would you be able to add a rope wrench into the system or something similar to add the additional friction and then use the device to control your descent?

    • @BartlettArboristSupply
      @BartlettArboristSupply 13 годин тому

      It is recommended to descend only by wrapping the rope around the Unicender. For more details, please refer to Rock Exotica's Unicender instruction manual.

    I personally got into rock climbing before tree climbing and have always been skeptical about the friction between the limb and rope when doing something like this

    • @BartlettArboristSupply
      @BartlettArboristSupply День тому

      We definitely recommend a friction saver to minimize the potential damage done to both tree and rope. However, 16-strand ropes are resilient when just ran over the branch union.

    I have used the Petzl ZigZag for years and love it- it’s smooth and easy to use. I just bought a Rock Exotica Akimbo and I love the design and concept, I especially like 2 things over the ZZ- having it midline attachable and having a short form factor that makes it possible to do spar work without having the length of the ZZ chicane setup jabbing me and preventing me from reducing my fall factor. Both great devices, and look forward to using the Akimbo more often

      Best industry practices; gaffs only for removals, no gaffs for pruning jobs, and a primary climbing line that will provide the climber with a mode of descent and allows for safe traversing through the crown of the tree. Knowing the tree species is also crucial, this will dictate where your primary anchor point will be set. Climb safe.

      Try translating quite literally anything from English into Spanish and you will quickly realize that it takes anywhere from 1.5x to 3x (or more) verbiage to say the same English words in Spanish. Spanish is a very DENSE language and so, although it might seem as though they are saying more in the Spanish version, it's probably exactly the same. Just some perspective for you.
